Dr. Ali Ferdowsi, a professor of political science and history at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, immigrated to the United States from Iran several decades ago. Popular with his students, he has also published widely, received grants not only from his university but also from the Rockefeller Institute and others, and has been invited to be guest lecturer at U.C. Berkeley and other institutions. In this interview, he explains that "Being Persian is a state of mind." Find out what this means by watching the video!


Shahrzad Khorsandi, with both a BA and an MA in dance-related fields, is a professional dancer, a teacher of dance, and the author of a book and several instructional videos on the same topic. Trained in ballet, jazz dance, West African dance and others, her specialty is Persian dance. Like Dr. Ferdowsi, she is a native of Iran; she came to the United States as a child. In this episode, not only do we get to see her perform, but she also explains why and how to grow the mung bean sprouts that she brought with her to the interview.
